What changed

Since 27 July 2026 Article 4 EU AI Act applies in eased form: "ensure a sufficient level of AI literacy" became "take measures to support the development of AI literacy" — an obligation of effort, not of result.

What still applies

The obligation has not disappeared. Anyone providing or deploying AI systems should support their staff in building literacy — appropriate to role and context of use. Since 3 August 2026 national market surveillance authorities supervise compliance.

What this means for you

No fine, no mandatory certificate, no guaranteed level of literacy per person. But those who train and document it are in a far better position on liability questions, tenders and client audits.

AI literacy certificates

Every training comes with documented proof: participant list, contents, date and scope — as an auditable certificate per person.

A certificate is not mandatory. It is valuable nonetheless: it evidences your efforts under Art. 4, strengthens your position in tenders and client audits — and keeps the paperwork ready when asked.
